I’m back and with the Smashing & Dashing 2016 Character Awards by the lovely Cait/PaperFury. *pants* Man, that was LONG.
Anways, this is a tag that Cait created and left open. I’m not going to tag anyone, so if you want to read Cait’s answers, or see the questions, go to her blog RIGHT HERE.
Also – I totally had to look at my Goodreads to see all of the books that I’d read this year … ’cause I was completely hopeless at remembering them. And lastly, because I’m awesome a.k.a.: too lazy to find appropriate gifs all of my gifs are funny Sherlock ones, so get your Pinterest buttons out.
1. MOST RELATABLE CHARACTER
That is easily Albany York from the (awesome and amazing and fantastic) book Twinepathy by C.B. Cook.
Aside from being the same MBTI (INTP-T), we just are soooo much THE SAME. So if you all want to get to know ME, then you can (and should!) just read the book.
2. MOST PURE AND PRECIOUS ANIMAL COMPANION
Tyra from The Ilyon Chronicles.
She’s a black wolf who the main character (an ex-gladiator fighter/slight murderer/outcast) found and nursed back to help. Tyra is basically his adorable and precious best friend.
Though Blizzard from The Blades of Acktar was a close second. 😉
3. FIERCEST FIGHTER
Wolf from The Lunar Chronicles. He’s … quite the fighter.
And also Jace from City of Bones. I may not have liked him all too much, but I still think that he was pretty badass at fighting.
4. MOST AMAZING SIDEKICK
Maddy from Twinepathy is quite the adorable sidekick. Like – quite literally adorable.
My little Newt- I mean, Newt from The Maze Runner series. He’s not quite a sidekick … but I like to think that he is. Also, Chuck from the same series. He’s just so adorable and huggable. ❤
5. ONE YOU’RE SURPRISED YOU LOVED
Alyssa from the Splintered trilogy.
I was TOTALLY hoping that I would like her (since, ahem, we DO share the same name), but I wasn’t quite sure. But I did – I really did. Actually, this question goes for all of the characters in this series.
Also, I liked Lina from Between Shades of Gray. (I just ADORED this book.) (And yes – the book is BETWEEN Shades of Gray, not FIFTY Shades of Gray.) I was actually pretty surprised by that.
6. BEST SASSMASTER
Unfortunately, a lot of the books that I read don’t have major Sassmasters … 😦 But I’d
have to say Magnus Chase from the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard series (gah, that’s a long series name!).
7. BEST ANTI-HERO AND MORALLY GREY GRAPE
KAZ BREKKER FROM SIX OF CROWS.
Ah. Ahaha. Yeah, I do tend to like him. Just slightly, you know. Nothing weird or abnormal (unlike, umm, say, Cait).
8. BEST WORST VILLAIN TO HATE
Skelley Chase from the Out of Time trilogy. I think. That question was slightly confusing, was it not?
But I actually do kind of like Skelley … in a villainy way. Does that make sense? I just felt like he was a good, believable villain, you know?
9. TRULY ASTOUNDING WORST YA PARENTS
Agnieszka’s parents from Uprooted. They just … I don’t even know. Like, they’re totally cool with practically sacrificing – no, actually sacrificing – their daughter to some mysterious old guy. Like, I just don’t get that. At all.
10. TRULY ASTOUNDING BEST YA PARENTS
Percy Jackson’s (from Percy Jackson and the Olympians) Mom AND Dad. Both of them are truly pretty cool.
Also Blue Sargent’s mom from The Raven Boys. She’s just so relaxed and cool and stuff and all. Um, yeah.
11. TOOT TOOT BEST SHIP OF THEM ALL
Percy + Annabeth = Percabeth, no question.
They’re both from the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. And I just … I just love them to pieces. *huggles them* *except I don’t like hugs* *so air hugs from a respectable distance*
12. THE MOST IN NEED OF PROTECTION
ALL MY PRECIOUS LITTLE CHARACTERLINGS.
13. MOST BORING AS A BARNACLE
“I” from The Invoice.
This guy was literally so “generic” that he didn’t even have a name. And sorry, but I was literally falling asleep on him.
Also, Harry from Harry Potter is being quite boring for me … What I’d love would be for the whole series would be from the Weasley Twins’ POVs (except for that last book … 😥 ). But I still do like the books.
14. BEST LITTLE ROYAL
Edmund from The Chronicles of Narnia. I just … love him so much!! Just seeing his character arc (and Skander Keenes playing him in the movies…) and all that is just amazing!
But Daniel from The Ilyon Chronicles and Effie Trinket from The Hunger Games (oh shush! She’s totally being counted as a Royal right now!) closely follow.
15. VERY SURPRISED YOU’RE STILL ALIVE
Katniss & Peeta from The Hunger Games, duh.
16. BEST AT HORRIBLE DECISION MAKING
Ella from Ella Enchanted.
When I was little, I loved this book – it was my first retelling. But now that I’ve read others, I’ve seen that I use to love this book more than I do now. But anyways, Ella always makes some pretty awful decisions.
17. CUTEST DORK
BARRY ALLEN! BARRY ALLEN!! Oh, wait, he’s not a book character, you say?? Well, huh.
I kinda want to say Mark Watney from The Martian – not because he’s particularly “cute” or a “dork,” but I just wanted to have him listed on here. 😉
BUT. For the cute and dork part, I think that maybe Jonathan from Illusionarium. It’s a bit of a stretch … but I just love him.
18. CLEVEREST LITTLE HELLION
Newt from The Maze Runner series (it’s no longer a trilogy). But he’s, also, probably a stretch. *shrugs* But whatever.
19. MOST IN NEED OF A NAP
Um, all of them.
But maybe Agnieszka, the main character from Uprooted. Maybe it’s not Agnieszka that needs the nap, but I totally wanted to while reading the book.
Also Kaz Brekker and his crew from Six of Crows. They, like, totally all need one giant nap with a giant, fuzzy, NON-TERRIFYING-SCRATCH-YOUR-EYEBALLS-OUT cat.
20. WANT TO READ MORE ABOUT YOU
Peeta from The Hunger Games. I would just LOVE to read the whole trilogy from his POV. And I would TOTALLY read how Haymitch had won his Hunger Games.
Newt from The Maze Runner series would be another. I must say, I was quite disappointed by The Fever Code, as I was hoping for some back story on him and some others. But, alas, no.
So there you have it, folks! Now – question time! What has been your favorite books/characters of this year? What about your favorite post/review of mine?? I’d love to hear it (just be nice!)! And what all cool/fun/bookish gifts have you gotten during this festive season?? Let me know in the comments below! I can’t wait to talk to y’all!
I LIVE FOR PERCABETH OH MY GOSH.
And Edmund, I love him so much he’s such an amazing character with the whole ‘redeeming yourself’ thing.
My favourite book this year… I really don’t know. I’ve read so many good ones. Probably the books I enjoyed the most were the Sword of Summer and the Positively Last Performance.
I’m definitely not a bad friend, I just have a bad memory so I can’t say which of your posts has been my favourite… I’ll just go with the safe answer and say ALL OF THEM!! Actually, I did particularly like your book-to-movie adaptations one. Oh, and of course your up-coming review of the Book Thief… 😉
I LITERALLY GOT SO MANY BOOK FOR CHRISTMAS AHHHHHH but I’m doing a post on it so you can see which ones I got then.

PEEEEERCABETH!!!
Haha, that’s okay. Honestly, I can’t even remember my own posts. 😉 (And I WILL get to the Book Thief … maybe. 😛 )
That’s awesome!!!! I got the whole Maze Runner series and Between Shades of Gray, but that’s it. I’m so excited to see your post, though!

The Maze Runner movie is better (the first one) … but I adore the second and third books. ❤
